2000年頃、師匠の故藤田清正氏指導の元で製作した硯箱に、豊岡クラフト製のペンマットを入れて、ペントレイとしても使えるようにしました。湾曲した蓋に赤、黄緑、白の3色の七々子塗りを施し、白いラインは卵殻を細かく砕き、ふるいに掛けて粒子を均一にして、蒔いています。漆と糊を混ぜて布を木地に貼り付ける”布着せ”の工程から始まる漆下地を施した後に、変わり塗りで仕上げた、手間の掛かっている逸品です。ペンマットは取り外し可能で、表裏使えるリバーシブル仕様です。また、石目地に螺鈿を蒔いて仕上げた中敷付きです。
